SCHOOL sports teams went head to head with pupils in Barbados during a once in a lifetime trip.

Pupils from Rednock School, in Dursley, returned from their Barbados sports tour last month, a trip that was made possible with donations from local people and businesses.

Pupil Callum Dummelow, 14, said: "The Barbados sports tour was a fantastic experience as it gave us a chance to play in a different country against a completely different opposition.

"The weather was very hot and had a big impact on our matches and the way that we played. I believe that the trip was brilliant and that everyone has come back with a lot of good memories."

The eight-day trip, organised by Teamlink during the October half term, was enjoyed by pupils in Rednock sports teams, including hockey, netball, football and cricket.

PE teacher and organiser of the trip, Hannah Lloyd, said: "It was one of the most memorable experiences for both the pupils and staff.

"For all teams it was an excellent learning curve both culturally and from a sporting perspective, one which will stay with the entire squad and also for the teachers forever."

The students played 11 matches but also enjoyed a host of other activities, including a private Bajan BBQ, Catamaran Cruise around the island and snorkelling.

Raegan Booth, 16, said: "The Barbados teams' standard of playing was outstanding. We were all so proud of each other and so thankful of the amazing experience.

"I will never forget the memories or the new friends I have made. On our last day we went on a catamaran trip and it was the best day, we had so much fun snorkelling and swimming in the crystal water. It was amazing."
