HORSE owners in Wickwar and Rangeworthy are being urged to be vigilant about suspect thieves.

The drivers of two vehicles have been spotted in the area taking photographs of horses and acting suspiciously.

Police Community Support Officer Haley Harrison said: "The people taking these photographs are not known by the horse owners.

"Do not approach either of these vehicles, however, if you do see them please ring in and let the police know."

She said police were particularly keen to hear from anyone who sees an N registration white Ford van and a red Landcruiser in the area. Contact police on 0845 456 7000.

It was reported in a local Gloucestershire paper last month that a photographer had been questioned by police for photographing a bus . Now it seems that the paranoia has spread to the photography of horses.

This isn't a scare. It's happening. My friend's pony was stolen from his field in Hallen in Bristol on the morning of the 10th July. Please see this link for a poster advertising his disappearance.
