MUSIC lovers are being called to the Cotswolds again this summer for the second North Nibley Music Festival.

Last year the event attracted almost 1,000 people and raised several thousands of pounds for local good causes and organisers are hoping this year will be even better.

"We want a reputation of being a family friendly festival with genuine musicians.

"We are never going to be massive but we would love to build a good reputation on the festival circuit," said Chris Gordon, from the festival's committee.

This year's event, being held on Saturday, July 12, promises to deliver to festival die-hards, with the inclusion of some top former Glastonbury line-up names.

The Incontinentals known as the maddest band in the world promise an unforgettable set with their mix of folk, blues, jazz, rock and Irish reggae, and Lizzy Parks who performed at Glastonbury last year is also set to perform.

Staying true to its roots North Nibley Music Festival will also feature top local talent with Pete Taylor award winning singer songwriter from Dursley and young band Static Abuse of Wotton-under-Edge.

Severn Vale Brewery, of Cam, is one of the festival's main sponsors and will be hosting a beer tent on the day offering visitors a selection of local ales.

The Wotton Round Table will also be joining in on the act and providing some of the food on the day.

"We've tried to keep as much as possible local, which is why we have invited Severn Vale Brewery and the Wotton Round Table.

"We want the festival to be about the local community. On the day we have a number of local groups and organisations running stalls and we are trying to source the food locally," said Mr Gordon.

On the day there will also be a children's area with activities specifically aimed at younger festival-goers.

North Nibley Music Festival, is taking place at the North Nibley playing field, on Saturday, July 12, 2pm-11pm.
