Death of manager forces company into administration
A CONSTRUCTION company that was halfway through building a housing development has gone into administration because the managing director died.
The MD of BCS Construction, Mike Bath, suffered a heart attack last month, which has forced the firm into administration.
Mr Bath, who was in his 60s, was on a skiing holiday at the time and without him the company has been unable to continue trading.
The Weston-super-Mare-based construction company was in the middle of completing a small development of five houses in Woodfield Road, Cam.
Residents in Woodfield Road noticed that work had stopped at the site and it had been left with scaffolding and no protection from the rain.
Bill Bray, who lives opposite the building site, said: "Looking at a half finished building site is very unsightly. There is lots of scaffolding so it is a bit of an eyesore.
"It has been left for quite a while and no work has been done so some people down the street wondered what was happening with it."
However work is due to begin again on the site shortly, as the owner of the land has found another construction company to finish the job.
Lee Vaughn, advisor for the landowner, said: "It is a very sad situation because as a result of Mike dying, the company collapsed.
"That caused a problem for the owner of the land in Cam who was using BCS Construction at the time.
"BCS Construction held all the plans for the houses and drawings so it has been a long process sorting it all out.
"However we have found a new builder who is able to complete the development and they will start work straight away."
The development, which is on the site of the former Stinchcombe service station, will consist of five dwellings.
Mr Vaughn said he anticipates the buildings will be finished some time this summer.
Meanwhile work has resumed at the Bianco development in May Lane, Dursley, that was at a standstill due to Cotswoldgate going into administration. Richard Mace from Besley Hill estate agents said they will be relaunching sales for the site on June 1.
