Season ends with draw as Dursley concede late on
Ladies Football;
Gloucestershire County League, Division One;
Dursley Town 2, Tetbury Town 2
DURSLEY completed their County League season with a creditable 2-2 draw at home to Tetbury.
The hosts were forced to make changes but still kept the 3-5-2 formation they used with success in their previous match.
Dursley took a deserved lead midway through the first half when Charlotte Palmer scored with a well-placed shot in the corner of the net giving the keeper no chance.
They pushed forward to build on their advantage and were unlucky on several occasions, with Kirsty Turl going close for the home side.
Tetbury levelled just before the break when a miss-hit cross was lobbed over the stranded Jodie Turl into the Dursley net.
The second half followed the pattern of the first, with Tetbury breaking on the counter-attack with the back three of Ros Dalglish, captain Sally Ash and player of the match Clare Rodgers playing in an unfamiliar left back position, making some timely interceptions.
Dursley thought they had claimed victory when Stacy Miles hit an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net only to see Tetbury equalise with virtually the last kick of the game.
The luckless Turl's fingertip failed to keep the Tetbury right winger's shot out.
Both teams must take credit for playing out an entertaining game.

The writer does a dis-service to Tetbury's first goalscorer.
It was not a mis-hit cross at all - it was a shot from inside the box that was half-blocked at point blank range by a defender and looped in - much like Arsenal's third goal in Monday's Women's FA Cup Final.
